Brad & Butter: The Essentials Series

Welcome back to Brad & Butter! In lieu of so many exciting things that are happening in my life over the next few weeks, I’m going to be doing a three part series that are all connected to what I consider are essentials components to happiness. Brad & Butter: The Essentials will bring to light three crucial aspects of life that never fail to bring me happiness.

The Essentials: Good Vibes

The very first step in establishing a source of happiness is to the least specific of all three, and is more of a concept than a tangible object; surround yourself with good vibes. Good vibes can refer to anything, but I think of it as a sort of an opportunity that presents itself in the form of the material world we live in. Whether or not that opportunity is something we derive happiness from (or not) differs from person to person.

Personally, one of the biggest contributors to my good vibes is a sense of place. It’s a bit hard to explain and might sound illogical, but I get good vibes from a sense of place when I’m surrounded by certain color schemes, specific people, and certain scenarios. For example, as a foodie, I’m a huge fan of bright spaces with a natural, white light. Another example is doing a certain task with a specific person that makes the task really enjoyable, no matter how trivial the task is.

Regardless of what produces the good vibes, there is an inherent relationship that exists and that relationships will make you happy. I encourage you to spend some time to list out these relationships because sometimes we don't realize how much something impacts our lives without taking a step back to map it all out. And once you figure out what your good vibes are, surround yourself with them. These are things that you should hold on to and never let go, especially when you're having a hard time. No matter how simple they may seem, the may make all the difference.

The Shake

This week's post is special because we're bringing the summer vibe to the table. The star of this shake is starfruit, also known as carambola. Starfruit is pretty common in Asia, and they are (obviously) quite easy to spot. The flavor profile and texture is similar to that of a green apple, but it is also slightly more tart. And of course...it definitely has potential to attract some attention.

This drink is probably one of my favorite shakes on Brad & Butter. The flavors of the fruit really come through, especially with the soju as a slightly less alcoholic drink. If drinking is on your summer list, definitely give this one a go!

Cheers,

Bradley
