Raspberry Grapefruit Daiquiri | A Summer Soirée
June 14, 2018
Foreword: A message to a friend
Everyday, there are so many causes for celebration, but the one we are most familiar with is the commemoration of a new life on our planet. Today, my post is dedicated to my best friend since the 8th grade, the one and only Lena Zhou.
When I think of Lena, the first word that comes to my mind is thriving. No matter where she is, or what situation she is put through, I can always see her living her best life. She has inspired me in so many ways, I don't think I can mention them all in just a few paragraphs. But most importantly, she has shown me how true friends treat each other. She has taught me to focus on the positive things in life and to approach life with lots of zest. She has even inspired me to explore my own sense of fashion, to explore options outside of black, white, and grey (lmfao).
The Soirée of a Lifetime aka "The Pregame"
Although I won't be able to see Lena until Mid-July, I promise you that this summer we will have THE soirée of the summer, complete with all the vegan party options you can think of. In other words, the pre-game will be lit.
To me, there are certain things that simply must be present at a house party. Other than good food & better company, I believe drinks are crucial to a successful party. Especially with summer in full swing (at least in Texas), I'm constantly thinking of ways to cool off while soaking in all that summer fun. And honestly, what better way to do so than to throw a party with your friends.
Fortunately, dealing with drinks for a party can be quite simple in both creation & execution. Making drinks requires less technical skill $ knowledge than cooking or baking, making it a perfect task for those with little or no experience in the kitchen. Typically, drinks consist of four components: the alcohol, a sweet component, a sour component, and other flavor additions. As far as flavor combinations go, that's really up to you! Be creative and your combinations are limitless!
This drink is a recipe I wanted to dedicate to you because without your inspiration and support, Brad & Butter would never have been possible. It only seems right to have your presence on the blog. I think you'll find that this drink is an accurate representation of you and your personality. A daiquiri's simplicity makes it well liked by everyone (true), the zest from the grapefruit in this recipe really shines (true), and the brilliant red is sure to attract attention from all over (true).
Thank you for being who you are, and for being a part of my life. Your presence is a blessing upon mine and I am so grateful for everything that you are. Here's to all the memories we have made with each other so far and to the many more we are bound to make.
